Inheritance, or Herencia as it's translated into Spanish, is a film that premiered in theaters in 2020, the year of the great COVID pandemic. It received lukewarm reviews; however, after being made available by Netflix in 2022, the film became a hit with audiences. The mystery surrounding it is profound, though it does have a happy ending.<\/p>\n

The film stars Lily Collins, an actress who has been among the most beloved by audiences in the past year. Collins has carved out a niche for herself among television viewers thanks to series like EMILY IN PARIS, an evolution of the concept behind SEX AND THE CITY, in which female characters arrive in a big city and must adapt. Perhaps due to her appearance, Lily Collins is adept at portraying physically fragile characters who nevertheless demonstrate strength of character in the most challenging circumstances.<\/p>\n

Perhaps it's because in 2020, the most discerning moviegoers were the ones going to theaters, and HERENCIA was met with a lukewarm reception. But on Netflix, among more emotionally driven audiences, the film is being well-received. Why does it work so well on the platform? I think that for the general public, there's an underlying unconscious desire to maintain the idealized figures of the father and mother, and since the film challenges these roles, viewers are forced to decide which side to defend. Furthermore, the villain's character is always ambiguous, a factor that keeps the audience constantly on edge, glued to the screen. Could these be the reasons for HERENCIA's success on Netflix?
