        "rendered": "<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Miguel Ernesto Yusty<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">EMA, directed by Pablo Larra\u00edn, tells the story of a young woman who, in her attempts to regain custody of her son, manipulates the lives of those around her, constructing a reality in which everyone has their place and purpose. Premiering at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, it can now be seen on MUBI, the streaming platform. Available to a wider audience than traditional movie theaters, the film addresses a universal theme: maternal love. But the film&#039;s approach transcends the typical guidelines for responsible mothers; on the contrary, EMA stands apart from what morality would deem acceptable.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/meyproducciones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Ema_31_\u00a9Pablo-Larrain.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The film enters the realm of great cinema from its opening shot, in which a traffic light engulfed in flames appears against a blue sky filled with dark, nocturnal clouds. The character&#039;s world is ablaze, and Ema burns with the desire to find a solution to the tragedy that has turned everything upside down: her son has been taken from her. The seasoned cinephile is immediately reminded of David Lynch&#039;s WILD AT HEART or Jacques Beigneix&#039;s BETTY BLUE, the former from 1990 and the latter from 1986. Although Ema is not involved in politics, the end justifies the means she employs to achieve her goal. Her actions are guided by her intuition as a dance artist and are mediated by eroticism and sexuality.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/meyproducciones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/RHRSTIFE4VLDFJVRTOEL5WGSFM.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"593\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With EMA, Pablo Larra\u00edn creates a film designed to be understood through the senses rather than the mind. The film is delicate in every aspect, and while long takes aren&#039;t a hallmark of its editing, those that do last longer than average stand the test of time because they are beautiful from beginning to end.
