The months of June and July 2018 saw the release of two new installments in the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE and JURASSIC PARK series. Both retained the necessary characteristics to belong to their respective genres and to be considered prime examples of the sagas to which they belong. From the very first moments of the film, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE is a faithful example of the spy genre. The mere greeting between characters, who communicate using codes known only to a select few, transports the viewer to the world of clandestine organizations during the Cold War. With JURASSIC PARK, the feeling is similar; within minutes, it's clear that you're watching an adventure film. Truthfully, nothing new; these are two genres that frequently release new films. So, what warrants writing about them?<\/p>\n

Juan Antonio Bayona, the director of JURASSIC PARK: FALLEN KINGDOM, displays a mastery of his craft that surprises with its refined style and its ability to make one think that, from the way he frames the shots, the film is built upon the myth that Steven Spielberg launched in the 1990s. His is not a copy, but rather an embrace of the series' distinctive audiovisual language.<\/p>\n

For his part, Christopher MacQuarrie, who directs MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE \u2013 FALLOUT, uses his talent as a screenwriter to orchestrate a film where narrative twists are a constant, making it one of the most outstanding in the genre. The film's strong impact on audiences is understandable when one remembers that MacQuarrie co-wrote the suspense classic THE USUAL SUSPECTS (1995). This installment of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE is a combination of the best of thriller cinema with the most spectacular aspects of action cinema. However, the quality of both films is not its most important quality.<\/p>\n
