Empire of Light tells the story of a woman, the assistant manager of the Empire movie theater, who is emotionally devastated and discovers love with a younger man. He, in turn, finds his place in the world by understanding the role that cinema plays in the world, which is, quite simply, to be a ray of light in the darkness.<br \/>\n<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/meyproducciones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/1680271324587.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"630\" \/><br \/>\nThe film is a confession by Mendes, who represents his mother in the protagonist&#039;s character and perhaps his father in the young Caribbean man with whom she falls in love. With the film, the director recreates his idea of happiness, illustrating that for him, it is achieved by watching movies in a theater. The screenplay for EMPIRE OF LIGHT was conceived during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when the idea of going to the cinema put viewers&#039; lives at risk. Two years later, when it is finally possible to return to movie theaters, Sam Mendes reveals to the world the reason for his characters&#039; lives and, behind them, the cinephile motivation behind them.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/meyproducciones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/TUNP4TL4YZFCNB6G5RNW35QRVI.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" \/><br \/>\nPost-pandemic life has been a time of reaffirmation for cinema. During these months, we&#039;ve seen films in which creators express their love for the craft. This is the case with Spielberg&#039;s FABELMAN and Damien Chazelle&#039;s BABYLON.
