It bases its story on an ancient pre-Christian legend from the Alpine countries, which tells of a demonic being who, unlike Santa Claus, does not reward children at Christmas, but kidnaps the naughtiest ones so that they never see their families again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">KRAMPUS is directed by Michael Dougherty, who previously helmed well-known projects such as SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006) and X-MEN 2 (2003). The film is a blend of fantasy, comedy, and horror\u2014pure entertainment. It attempts to follow in the footsteps of memorable Christmas hits similar to GREMLINS (1984). As a major draw, KRAMPUS features actress Toni Collette, who played the mother of the child in THE SIXTH SENSE (1999) and was part of the cast of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE (2006).
