Since the first week of November 2013, PURE PHOTOGRAPHY has been the goal championed by the Japanese company. Their newest camera, named DF, is a testament to this.<\/p>\n

The DF is the answer to the market's demand for cameras that operate the way they've always been operated. That is to say, they're digital because they record images on hard drives or memory cards, but the controls are the same as they've always been. Users don't quite understand why technological advancements complicate their lives and why they have to pay for it. The new camera aims to be a tribute to common sense, leaving the buttons and dials where they've always been, fulfilling the functions they've always performed: because if something works, it should stay the way it is.<\/p>\n

Nikon's move, the Japanese company, goes against the grain of the trend set by many technology manufacturers, who impose new standards to make devices sold in previous seasons obsolete. Just look at what happens with computers, which quickly become obsolete with the arrival of new operating system versions. This happens because new technologies demand qualities that often have little practical use. It must be acknowledged that while some people need novelty to give meaning to their lives, others demand utility and efficiency to fulfill their responsibilities, even if they are just simple hobbies.<\/p>\n

That's why we celebrate the arrival of the new Nikon DF. Those who can afford it will enjoy a digital camera that records to a memory card and displays photos on a screen on the back, while also handling it just as cameras were used years ago, with the same logic that a century of use has refined to transform a technological device into a fine art. Even those who own older Nikon lenses can use them without fear of making mistakes. Nikon thus demonstrates that the new doesn't erase tradition, that the two concepts are not irreconcilable enemies, and that it's possible to move forward intelligently. The only thing that bothers us is its high price, around $3,000. But since we hope the Nikon DF is more than just a camera and marks the beginning of a trend, we hope to see the price drop with the arrival of new models inspired by the same ideals.<\/p>\n
