This year&#039;s festival features some changes aimed at providing more opportunities for film enthusiasts who have previously been excluded from its activities. Screenings will begin at 9:00 am in the Historic Center and at 10:00 am at Cine Colombia. Additionally, &quot;Cinema Under the Stars,&quot; which previously offered three screenings, will now have a total of 15 (at Plaza de Banderas and Plaza de la Proclamaci\u00f3n). In total, the festival will offer 290 screenings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year, FICCI will feature approximately 107 feature films, 18 short films in the short film competition, and 15 in the emerging filmmakers competition. This totals approximately 140 films representing 32 countries. In the words of Monika Wagenberg, the festival&#039;s director: \u201cDuring 2012 and the beginning of 2013, we have seen an exceptional crop of films, and consequently, we wanted to bring as many as possible to the Festival. All of them will be national premieres; several are coming fresh from the Sundance, Rotterdam, and Berlin Film Festivals, which take place between January and February; and the vast majority of the Colombian productions will be world premieres.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/meyproducciones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/keitel1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/meyproducciones.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/keitel1.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Keitel\" width=\"220\" height=\"275\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12807\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<span><\/span><br \/>\n<span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Harvey Keitel will be the guest of honor on this occasion. \u201cA daring actor with an enviable range, Keitel doesn&#039;t limit himself to the tough-guy roles that made him famous, but experiments in other genres and themes, surprising us with each film. After more than ten years working in theater, the New Yorker made his name in film through Martin Scorsese&#039;s WHO&#039;S THAT KNOCKING AT MY DOOR? (1967), MEAN STREETS (1973), and TAXI DRIVER (1976). In the 1990s, after his participation in Ridley Scott&#039;s road movie THELMA AND LOUIS (1991), Quentin Tarantino&#039;s debut film RESERVOIR DOGS (1992), as well as his second film PULP FICTION (1994), his name appeared in the credits of various productions, and he received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for his role in Barry&#039;s BUGSY (1991). Levinson and the Special Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival for his participation in Wayne Wang&#039;s SMOKE (1995).\u201d<br \/>\n<span><\/span><br \/>\n<span><\/span><br \/>\n<span><\/span><br \/>\n<span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These are just some of the reasons why you should pay attention to what will happen at the 53rd edition of FICCI.
