Portraits in Venice
As September ends, we look back and remember that in the first days of this ninth month, director Carlos Gaviria's film was awarded at the Venice Film Festival. Portraits in a sea of lies, Gaviria received the City of Venice Award, created by the city's mayor to recognize socially conscious films from developing countries. According to the jury, Gaviria's film stood out for its unique treatment of violence and displacement. "Portraits of a Sea of Lies" demonstrates that it is possible to create captivating films without sacrificing the depth of the themes explored.
