The movie MAN OF STEEL, which premiered on June 14th, is currently the winner of the first place at the box office this month, with a total of US$1,398,378,153 worldwide.
However, after Superman set a record-breaking opening weekend with US$116,619,362, the figures are surprising, as it seemed unlikely that Monsters University would draw such a large audience when it premiered the following weekend (June 21). With an opening weekend total of US$82,429,469, the film starring Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan ranks as Pixar's second highest-grossing opening weekend, after Toy Story 3 in 2010. Just five days after its release, Monsters University has grossed US$136,929,469 worldwide. Can it dethrone Man of Steel?
